How can I modify my confluence's home page? Space list and name abbreviations help

I am trying to get a more friendly home page. Currently on the existing homepage I am unable to reorder the spaces and they display with their Space abbreviations. I want to be able to reorganize them and not have their abbreviations shown.

Hi 

You can make your space home page as your site's main home page.

Space's home page design and content can be modified. You can design it to suit your needs.

Once its done, you can configure it to be your site's home page by selecting the Further Configuration menu in Confluence Settings.
