How can I delete previous version(s) from the history of page content using REST API?

I'm updating content of a Confluence page via REST API automatically. With every update a new version is created and all pervious versions are kept in the page history.

I do not neet these old versions.

Is there a way to update the page content without creating a new version via REST API?

Or Is there a way to delete previous version(s) of a page via REST API?
