Header for a page hierarchy

Hi !

with Confluence I am creating a document which should be understood as a "draft". The document is a page hierarchy next to other already "published" documents. I would like to add a header on my draft page hierarchy like I probably would do in Word with its header/footer functionality.

Of course I could edit every single page in that hierarchy and add on top some notes, but I wonder if there is a nice plugin or other method which I could not figure out.

thanks for readings,
thomas

Hallo Thomas

Just to clarify: Are you looking for a way of regularly marking pages as "draft", then removing that marking when they're published? The following two add-ons can help you with that:

Alternatively, if you're not needing to add the header regularly, you can do it this way:

  1. Put your header text into a single page in Confluence. Let's call that page "_MyHeaderText".
  2. Use the Include macro to include the page "_MyHeaderText" at the top of each of your pages that need the header. So, yes, in this case you need to edit every single page. But at least you can keep the words in one place, without needing to update them in multiple places. You could also use a template to help make sure the Include statement gets added to every new page in your tree. Here are the docs for the Include macro: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Include+Page+Macro
  3. When you no longer need the banner, just remove all the text from the "_MyHeaderText" page. This will remove the text from all the pages. When you have time, you could remove the Include macro from those pages, but it's not necessary.

Alyson has suggested a good way of adding a header to all pages in a space. Another way to do that is via the documentation theme: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Configuring+the+Documentation+Theme

Using the Documentation theme is perhaps a bit simpler, and the customisations don't need to be re-applied each time you upgrade Confluence.

I hope this answers your question!

Cheers, Sarah

Hi Sarah,

i checked both add-ons but they don't quite match my issue.

I'm very happy with the Include-Page macro. I had like 30 pages which I have changed and added myself a new "standard page as a draft" template. In that combination I'm very happy now and I do have exactly what I was looking for.

thank you very much.

Hi Thomas,

After researching the Market Place, I'm afraid there isn't a plugin capable of doing that at this time.

Alternatively, you can customize the Space Admin > Look and Feel > Layout > Page Layout and add a header for all pages within an specific space. That's the closest I could find that may suit your needs.

Hope it helps.
