Getting Jira Release notes into Confluence without Cutting and Pasting?

AER IT Procurement November 19, 2019

Hello,

I have a JIRA project, once in, I navigate to the Releases, I then go to the version,  then click 'Release Notes' at the top of the screen.

Once there, there is an option to:

Edit/Copy Release Notes

The text area below allows the project release notes to be edited and copied to another document.

Is there any way to use the Jira Filter plugin to put the release notes into Confluence with out doing a manual cut and paste?

What would be the jql I would use?  Search on the version name?

Share the syntax please?

OR

Is there a better way?

Thanks,

Victor

Hello Victor,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this.

I believe you can achieve this in the Jira Issues Macro if you:

  1. Set the fixVersion
  2. Order by issuetype
  3. Display the Release Notes field.
Can you try that and let me know how it goes? We also have a template you can use, called Change Log, which will help you to create release notes pages.

See Create a Change Log for more details.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Regards,
