I have an excel document that has confluence page titles. I would like to create links in the Excel document to confluence pages using the page title. Is this possible? So far it seems that all links to confluence pages from external locations (like excel) require the page Id (which I do not have).
If you were using "friendly names", you could use those. They are available when you don't use any special characters in the name of a page.
But I think the best answer is to use the short link of your page. This won't change if you rename or move the page (it will if you move to a new server/domain).
For any page, go to the tools menu, advanced and then page information, you'll see a short link in there.
