Exporting page to PDF truncate code when it is too wide

Siméon Capy May 30, 2024

Hello,

I exported one of my pages with a bloc of code inside. This code is wide and need a horizontal scroll bar. But when I exported the page into PDF, no line breaks have been added and the code is not visible on the right.

You can see in on the line 10 and 25 of my screenshot.

How to change this behaviour, or is it a bug?

Hi @Siméon Capy and welcome to the community.

A couple of years ago I was a tech writer on a CA Technologies mainframe product and we faced the same issue when exporting wide mainframe printscreens into a PDF format from Confluence. LIke this:

Your options include:

  • Try a different code macro app from the marketplace
  • Tweak your PDF export stylesheet - it's available in Settings under Look and Feel
  • Try Scroll PDF Exporter from K15t, it offers tweaks for code export

In our case, we developed our own macro (as an app, I believe) that defaulted to a smaller font and used customeze Scroll PDF exporter to do the trick.

Hello @Kristian Klima thank you for your answer.

I will try to look on the app marketplace if I can find suitable PDF macro and doing my one stylesheet if I have enough time :)
