Escaping hyphens in search

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Search syntax for text fields

When searching in Confluence, I am unable to search for text with hyphens.

Have you tried putting quotes around the term?

"hyphenated-text"

Yeah tried that and it doesn't work.

Did some more digging and it appears to be a known issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-3036
