Hi there,
Instead of being a separate app for Confluence, this should be part of the basic functionality of Confluence, IMHO:
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/33286/inplace-editor-for-confluence
Now it is really a pain to edit relatively long pages. One should be able to edit a specific paragraph within a page.
Why? You'd have to implement a complicated system of selecting paragraphs, and load the authors with the duty of having to define them for Confluence to understand them. You'd also have to have a system for stopping editing one paragraph and moving to edit another one when you notice something in a different one near the one you are editing.
It's far more simple to edit an entire page.
The answer to "Why?" is: A better user experience.
It is not simple at all to edit a page without being able to edit chapters and/or paragraphs in it. That is why people implemented a plugin for Confluence for it and that is also why other wiki-software outside Atlassian does have this functionality.

This option should be available in Confluence Cloud as well.
