We are an OnDemand user and cannot get the Edit in Document or View to work across browsers. I've also submitted a support ticket, but was wondering if anyone else has this working with the latest Confluence version or has any workarounds.

IE8 - we get errors that the file cannot be found or opened

Firefox 15 - we can view the docs; but, nothing happens when you click on Edit in Document. You cannot view Excel docs that have a few thousand rows - get a script error or java heap. Browser becomes unresponsive and it starts affecting responsiveness of other apps

Safari 6/Chrome 22 - we can view the docs (the performance is actually quite fast in these browsers, and there are no issues viewing excel docs with thousands of rows). However, doesn't appear to be supported by Atlassian since you get an error message when you click on Edit in Document that says you must use IE or Firefox. With this, if Atlassian is providing support for all browsers, why is this functionality not supported in these two browsers since they actually appear to work (and are quick!)?

So, at this point, our users, whether mac or pc, can use this feature.

1) Getting help from another Atlassian partner, they recommended to setup the JIRA site as a trusted site for IE users. This resolved one of the issus.

2) Atlassian had to up the memory cache on our instance because viewing larger documents caused the entire instance to crash. This seems to have resolved the firefox issue (even though in Chrome/Safari it could be viewed)

3) Although Atlassian claims cross browser support, there are IMPROVEMENT requests to provide this functionality in these other browsers. The good thing is that they recognize this needs to be done; my feedback is that it should be considered a bug and not an improvement if they are going to claim cross-browser certification.

You probably will want to open an atlassian support ticket for this.

IE8 -> There is a problem with cache headers and office

Firefox 15 -> I think you need the webdav plugin

Here is some information on this issue: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Editing+an+Office+Document+from+Confluence
