Duplicate publicly shared Confluence pages

Notion has a feature where users can duplicate a publicly available page:

https://www.notion.com/help/duplicate-public-pages

Is this possible with Confluence? I know you can share a Confluence page, but it is view-only. Is there a way to allow users to make a copy of the page (so no edit privileges)?

UPDATE: The answer is no, this is not a feature today. The solution is to ask the external users to copy+paste the content from the page onto their own Confluence page. The issue

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-99076 was created in case it is something the Atlassian product team would like to prioritize!

Hi @Cecilia Hahn ,

To my knowledge, this isn't something that's supported within Confluence (yet). Although, It's interesting to see that Notion has something like that.

From tests I've performed, users can select the content and then copy&paste it manually, but I'm guessing that isn't something that's viable enough. šŸ¤”

Additionally, I've scanned public system dashboard for open suggestions on the topic, but couldn't find anything related. I would suggest reaching out to Atlassian Support with this as they can do additional scan of open suggestions and, potentially, open a new suggestion if you would request so.
If they do create new suggestion (or if there already is one), I think other members would appreciate if you could paste a link here.

Cheers,
Tobi

Thanks Tobi! We will go with the copy&paste it approach. I wanted to exhaust all options before taking the manual approach šŸ˜… and I'll reach out to Atlassian Support in case it is valuable enough for other users.

Disclaimer: I'm going to play the role of Devil's Advocate :)

Isn't the purpose of public pages to share Confluence content with folks who do not have an account on that specific Confluence site?

If edits / comments are expected, then there are Confluence Guests. A space can be made public with various levels of engagements from anonymous users.

And, as @Tomislav Tobijas _Koios_ said, copy/paste works just as well. Confluence editor is really good in processing content from HTML sites and using this old school method is likely to be just as fast than going thru the Notion menus.

I don't know but it's one of those Notion features that seems designed solely because Confluence doesn't have one on the menu. "Let's say you come across a Notion page you love on the web and want to make it your own." Do I sense a hint of copyright infringement? :)

And then there's the feature to 'prevent' duplicating the pages. What would stop a user to select and then copy/paste the content from a public page into their own Notion? To put it more harshly, the whole 'prevent' feature is a solution in search of a problem :)

Yup, we will go with copy/paste. Notion's UX was really unfriendly.

Hi @Cecilia Hahn

From my understanding of the Notion documentation page, any users having access to your Confluence instance and having a personal space, can copy any page and its subpages in his personal space (or any space in which he can create content).

The Confluence documentation here to do this action.

Regards and happy new year,

Thanks Cyrille!

We have internal and external users.

For our internal users, our team, they'd have access to our Confluence instance and can copy any page, just like you shared.

The question is more about solving for our external users who'd use our publicly available Confluence pages as templates for their own work. Ideally, they could just copy / "remix" our template for their own use. They wouldn't have access to most of our Confluence though so cost-wise, it wouldn't make sense for us to add them to the "team".
