Do restricted pages appear in that space's search results?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Page Restrictions

If I as the space admin, restrict certain pages in the space, when (non-admin) users do searches in that space, will the search results return hits on the pages I've restricted?

And in the greater sense, does restricting pages effectively HIDE those pages from the restricted users? Or can they see the restricted pages exist (in the TOC for example), but just not access them.

I just ran into this, looking for one of my one pages created in a restricted "folder".  I couldn't find it through the Search at all!

How come restricted pages are hidden in Search from those who can access them?

They're totally hidden.

Good to know. Thanks!

One follow-up question: Does restricting a parent page, restrict all the child pages under it? For example, if my TOC shows:

And I restrict "Parent," are Child1 and Child2 also restricted, or must they be manually restricted?

Broadly speaking, yes, child pages inherit restrictions.  See the middle section in for the exact rules (note that it changed a bit a few versions ago, so if you're not on 5.9, go back and select the one you are on!)
