Disable Head Blue panel.

Krupesh Desai January 25, 2012

We are about to have our product documentation ready to go online. This documentation can be viewed without any authentication for few months so I have set the privileges accordingly. While anonymous user view the documentation, the Blue head panel should be disabled so he/she can not go to other spaces or can not see browse or administrator option. How to disable that Blue Panel?

A couple of thoughs

  1. There's no native option for doing that in Confluence, unless you write your own theme, or hack the code
  2. You're using OnDemand, and I don't think that supports code changes like that
  3. I'm not sure why you would be that worried about the bar - it's useful for navigation, and if you have your permissions set up correctly, no-one will be able to see the stuff you don't want them to. Removing the bar is not the way to stop your anonymous user from visiting other spaces, because they can get to them in several other ways. The bar is clever enough to hide things you have protected (because giving a link to something a user can't actually use is pointless), but you need to protect them properly irrespective of the navigation options on the header. An example - if your public documentation is at http://yourspace/display/DOCS, then I already know I can go to http://yourspace/spaces/editspace.action?key=DOCS to see the space admin pages. You need to make sure anonymous can't do that by setting your permissions correctly, and then you'll find the administration link disappears for anonymous users.
