Hi All,

We are trying to cleanup the users from Jira application and wanted to remove all disabled user from JIRA application, but we cannot perform this activity since, users has associated with some issues and not providing option to delete.

Do we have option to anonymise the users while deleting like how we have in Confluence.

Thanks,

@Vasantakumaar

Unlike simple deletion, Jira provides an alternative to anonymize users, you can:

1. Log in as an Admin: You need to have Jira admin permissions to handle user data in this way.

2. Go to User Management: Navigate to the User Management section where you can see a list of all users.

3. Find the User: Locate the user you wish to anonymize. You can use the search function if you have many users.

4. Anonymize the User: Click on the user’s profile. Look for the option to anonymize the user. This might be under 'Actions' or a similar menu. Jira will prompt you to confirm that you want to anonymize the user. This action typically replaces the user's personal identifiers (like name and email) with anonymized values across all Jira data and logs.

5. Confirm and Proceed: Follow the prompts to complete the process. Remember, this action is irreversible and ensures that the user’s identity is not discernible.

6. Check for Completion: Ensure the process has completed successfully and the user’s data is now anonymized.

If you do not see an option to anonymize directly, make sure you are using a Jira version that supports this feature (usually Jira 8.0 and later). If the feature is not available, or if you are using an earlier version of Jira, consider updating your instance or contacting Atlassian support.
