Date format not displaying day of the week (EEE)

Hi!
In General Configuration > Formatting and International Settings > Date/Time Format, I've updated the format to include the 3 letter abbreviation for the name of the day of the week.
Date Time Format: EEE, MMM dd, yyyy HH:mm
Date Format: EEE, MMM dd, yyyy
However, when I use the date macro, dates are still displaying with the default formatting and do not include the day of the week. How can I fix this?
