Creating a proof of concept - need help to understand

I am trying to create a proof of concept and I am having a hard time. 

Looking to understand the best way to use Confluence as a repository for policies, best way to use Confluence as a way to connect with co-workers and a professional/personal way, document management w/branding options, how does it work for a preservation of knowledge database? 

I have so many questions and have tried creating pages, watching videos - it's not clicking.
