Correcting invalid Custom HTML in Confluence without logging in

Hans Bergsten August 20, 2013

Doh! I have managed to enter a script block in Custom HTML that ends with <script> instead of </script>. Now none of the pages display correctly and I cannot log in to correct the problem.

Where is the Custom HTML stored? I assume it is in the database, but in which table?

Is there a .vm file I can modify so that Custom HTML is not included in the generated responses?

I found a way to not include the faulty Custom HTML in the pages, namely comment out this code:

$!settingsManager.globalSettings.customHtmlSettings.beforeHeadEnd

in the main.vmd, login.vmd and sudo.vmd files located in CONFLUENCE_HOME/confluence/decorators.

I hope this tip will help someone else at some point :)
