Connecting Microsoft AD to Confluence

Markus August 25, 2017

Hi everyone!

I have a Microsoft Active Directory Domain Controller (Windows Server 2008R2) with the domain name test.local, one organization unit called Atlassian and two groups in this OU named SECGROUP_Confluence-User and one SECGROUP_Confluence-Admin. How does the Base-DN has to look like that I get the groups and the users, so that I can assign the permissons in confluence to groups and members of this group have these rights....

I'm playing since two days now and it won't work... I'm stuck at the point testing the connection, retriving a user.

thanks for all your answers and feedback.

kind regards

markus

Hi Markus,

Please try the following as a base DN:

 ou=Atlassian,dc=test,dc=local

For now, please leave everything else on the default settings, after you have chosen Add Directory>Active Directory under Confluence Admin>User Directories.

You may narrow down your LDAP queries after you get the basics set up. Here are some helpful docs:

I look forward to hearing whether the suggested base DN works to pull in the users and groups.

Thanks,

Ann
