Confluence returns conflicting errors for files exceed upload size limit

Isaac Adjovu September 26, 2024

We have a file size upload limit and noticed that Confluence randomly returns this 2 type of error message once that limit is exceeded in an upload attempt, one day it was "checking" and if the file was too big it was giving me information that it is too big, now it returns server issue error that you can see in the attachments.

We know both errors are file size related but we need the error responses to be accurate and consistent so we can effectively troubleshoot.

Can someone help us resolve this?confluence file too big.pngconfluence unavailable.png

There's nothing to do without tampering with the error handling side of things in the code of the application itself.

This seems to be tracked here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-14317
