Confluence backup - proxy error

Deleted user March 8, 2018

Here is what I got when creating a backup from GUI. Any input is appreciated!

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /admin/dobackup.action.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Hi Vladimir

Backups are an intensive and time taking process and proxies usually run into timeout issues during the process.

There are two workarounds for this,

  1. Initiate backup directly from tomcat connector and not from proxy. As our documentation states,
For example, your URL might may normally be something like http://<domain>.com. To bypass this and access Tomcat directly, use this URL: http://localhost:8090/confluence/admin/backup.action. directly from your server.
  2. Increase the timeout setting of proxy.

Cheers, Hassan
