Confluence Self-Hosted Server gone back to Setup Wizard

Wade Saunders July 10, 2019

Which using our confluence server, pages went completely blank, for us and all users. We attempted to fix the issue by restarting the confluence service in windows services.

After restarting that service we are now presented with a setup wizard when trying to access our confluence site. it looks at though our database has either become detached or has been corrupted maybe.

We have tried restarting the server that hosts the confluence site but this has not helped. Does anyone have any suggestions of what may have happened or how to diagnose/ fix this

Hi,

If you are presented with a setup wizard which probably means that confluence was unable find the confluence home directory as a result a new confluence directory has been created to run the wizard which will takes the database configuration and populates the tables in database.

Verify the home directory path in confluence-init.properties and find out the right directory and also check if the database and it's tables exists(also check confluence.cfg.xml file for db related config). If you have multiple services installed, figure out the right confluence service and start it.
