What is the best way in Confluence for multiple people to work on word document attachments?
Other option is an app to check out docs, see Cenote Lockpoint.
As @Kristian Klima mentioned an integration app, to essentially embed the doc on the page, is a good option as well.
Hi @vkothandapani and welcome to the Community.
If I understand it correctly, you have a Confluence page.
On that page, you have a Microsoft Word file as an attachment.
That attachment is, by definition, only a file attached to the page, so any work must happen outside of Confluence. Which means that you need to develop a version control mechanism outside of Confluence.
Then attach the new copy of that Word file to the page.
Now, there are methods that allow you to display (embedd) a Word file directly on the Confluence page so that it always displays the latest version but you'd still have to version control that file elsewhere.
Why not just move the content directly onto a Confluence page and edit there - you have full version history, you can comment on each save, and you can do proper versioning with an app.

@Kristian Klima Thanks for your response. In the past there was an option 'Edit in Office'. Is that no longer available?
Also by installing the Atlassian Companion App, can we do something to achieve what we are looking for? We are using Confluence Cloud.

Edit in Office is DataCenter only feature.

There may be an app that does same/similar on Marketplace.
