What database maintenance is required to keep Confluence running optimally e.g. index reorganize and update statistics daily, index rebuild weekly? Do the Confluence services need to be stopped during the database maintenance process? We are running PostgreSQL (latest)

Hi @BeyondTheChapters ,

 

High-Level checks:

  • Keep your DB version compatible with Confluence.
  • Update your DB version for security updates.
  • Don't need to stop your DB unless you are updating it. you can reindex while your system is online.
  • Performance wise - monitor your pool and thread count to makes sure your Confluence is not hitting the max. In most cases, the recommended sizing from Atlassian is sufficient.
  • Backup your DB on a regular basis in case anything ever goes wrong. 
  • Don't need rebuild your index if you are not making frequent changes. Only, if the search is completely broken.
