It's entirely possible I'm being dense and missed something crucial in the Confluence Databases documentation, but I can not for the life of me figure out how to add a blank database entry macro to a template.
It seems like this would be one of the most useful features since you could use that template as the Initial Content for the Page Link field type, but all I can find is how to copy the link to an existing database entry, which is really not helpful for a template. Someone created a Jira ticket stating that existing Database Entry Macros stopped working in their templates, so it seems like it should be possible. But unfortunately, I don't have the Entry Macro mentioned in this documentation (or a Database Value Macro for that matter) in my macro list.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
It seems it may not be possible in the current beta version of Confluence Databases, but I did find a feature request for this for anyone who (like me) feels this should be base-level functionality: CONFCLOUD-77965
We have similar experience: If the page is created from a database, it is possible to choose either a DB entry macro or a template, but not to combine it. If you need to use both the database macro and the template, you have to manually copy the page template.
Colleague of mine discovered that the DB entry macro can also be added to an existing page: you need to open the entry (Expand entry), there you can copy the link to it in the upper right, which will then be pasted on the desired page and the display of the link will be switched to Embed. If the database is displayed as a table, it is necessary to mark the entire row, otherwise the menu to open the record will not appear. It is far from user-friendly solution.
