Confluence Cloud - Template Solution

Andrew Pawl February 18, 2025

I have a client who wants to create Spaces from an existing Space which they want to use exclusively as a template. This will be a solution used often enough that I would like to find a solution.

The obvious problem with the quickest solution is an Export/Import. However when I change the Space Key - it doesn't seem to take as far enough as to allow for the Import to run (Space Key already exsists).

So my question is. Within the Export file, is there a specific file that I can change the Space Key. If so - which tool/app is best to do that from?

I'm thinking - Export/change Space Key/Import.

Thoughts?

TIA

Andy

@Andrew Pawl I believe the best way to do this is to Copy the top level page and all of its children from the template space to another space. I believe you need to create the new space first. See https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/move-copy-and-hide-pages/#Copy-items

I also found this blog from Kolekti (which I am not affiliated with): https://www.kolekti.com/resources/blog/move-copy-reorder-pages-confluence-cloud
