Hello guys,
I am looking for some clarification about the Data Backups of the Confluence Cloud. I stumbled upon this. Atlassian retains the snapshots for 30 days.
Is it possible to request to restore to a snapshot on-demand even though the site is functional?
No, those snapshots are for disaster recovery only. If you need to have feature like you described you need to write your own solution. Right now backups are not perfect in Cloud. Atlassian is working on some improvements - https://www.atlassian.com/wac/roadmap/cloud/improved-backup-and-restore-capabilities-eap?search=backup&p=494da26d-35

In the link you shared - https://www.atlassian.com/trust/reliability/cloud-architecture-and-operational-practices#data-center-security
Atlassian states how they use the infra level backups they take every day - "We don’t use these backups to revert customer-initiated destructive changes, such as fields overwritten using scripts, or deleted issues, projects, or sites. To avoid data loss, we recommend making regular backups. Learn more about creating backups in the support documentation for your product."
Per the shared responsibilities that a customer has when using Atlassian Cloud products, it is the customers responsibility to take backups among other things. This is no different from other SaaS applications such as O365, SFDC etc.. https://www.atlassian.com/whitepapers/cloud-security-shared-responsibilities
I am from Revyz, where-in we have built apps that help you automate backups and provide for granular recovery of data. Happy to help with additional questions on this topic. You can also read about our apps here.
Thanks
