My space Home pages have no Comment section on them.

When we create a new space, we replace the default Home page with a blank one and then apply a custom template. As far as I can see, there is no macro to add to a page for comments. When I look at existing pages that have comments sections, there's nothing in Edit view to indicate that there's a Comment area.

All our spaces have permissions set to allow Comments. What am I missing?

Hello, while working on validating server to cloud migration I have noticed that comments in space home page where not visible and I guess what is discussed here is the "explanation".

Still looks like a bug to me as the history of comment is visible in the page (but clicking on it has no effect / leads nowhere).

Hello Darryl,

Which web browser did you try? Can you try different browsers just to confirm that it's not a JS script which blocks something?

If you have no chance with that, please provide a screenshot of the footer of one the pages affected by this issue, and another one of the space permissions of the user/group who is supposed to be able to add comments.

Thanks in advance.
Boris

Hi Boris,

I generally use Chrome, and have tried this there as well as Firefox. No indication anywhere that JS is being blocked, but Comments not available on either. And we do have other pages where comments are available.

Hi Darryl,

Thanks for your feedback. Do you encounter the issue for both "confluence-admins" and "confluence-users" group members?

In addition, I can see in your second screen shot that your are showing the footer of a page which is in "Edit" mode. Could you please show me a page already published please (as a reminder, there is no "Comments" section in Edit mode)?

Thank in advance.
Boris

The issue occurs for both. Different screenshot here, but same permissions scheme. I noticed that the other page was old(er) and wanted to get something created more recently.

Thanks for this answer.
From this screenshot, I can see that this is the home page of your space (Overview). Is it?
If so, note that in Confluence Cloud, home pages do not have a comment section, as it is not really designed to be interactive, but just informative.

So, the behaviour you have seems normal if you are talking about your home page.

I hope this will help.

Thanks
Boris

Thanks.

Yes, as stated, these are Home pages. I was not aware they did not have Comment areas.
