Cannot authenticate to Jira account in Confluence, despite being logged in for both

Basford_ Joy March 6, 2024

This is how the issue looks:

I am already logged into both Jira (https://jira.cad.local) and Confluence (http://bgcconfluence.cad.loca) but I am unable to view or create Jira Macros or Jira Filter Macros in Confluence.

If I see a Jira Macro, I am prompted to authenticate and the authentication fails.

I authenticate via Jira -> Profile -> Activity Stream -> Authenticate with BGC+GFIBamboo.
I click on the "Authenticate" link and it shows and error below:

Authentication failed!

You have to be logged in to complete OAuth authentication. This may occur as a result if you have actually logged out or the session has expired.

This is what I believe is the cause:

In Confluence -> Profile -> Settings: The OAuth Access Token appears to be for http://jira
Whereas my company jira urls all begin with https://jira

Is this mismatch the reason? If so, does anyone know how we can resolve this?

Hi @Basford_ Joy ,

try to check application link configuration. In particular, on both side, incoming and outgoing connection should be set to "OAuth (impersonation)".

Hope this helps,

Fabio
