Cannot Login to Confluence after Linking Jira To It

Hi there,

We did a vanilla install of Confluence and Jira. We had admin access to both products.

We followed the instructions to link Jira to Confluence and then synchronised users but now no one can login to Confluence and we get the following error message:

"You are not permitted to perform this operation."

Please advise.

TIA,

James

Hi,

It is possible that you have put Jira as the first position in User Directories and that is causing this issue. In order to place internal directory in the first position again, please refer to Step 3 of the following link.

Which instructions did you follow about linking? Why did you synchronise users just to use application links?

I think we need more information about what you've done to integrate them?

Thanks for getting back to me. We followed this:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Connecting+to+Crowd+or+JIRA+for+User+Management#ConnectingtoCrowdorJIRAforUserManagement-ConnectingConfluencetoJIRAforUserManagement

We synchronised users to take advantage of the centralised authentication functionality.

Thanks for that. Step 3. allowed us to get back into Confluence. Looks like a few steps confused us:

1. We assumed erroneously that we had to promote Jira to be the primary directory service for Confluence
2. We hadn't added the confluence-administrators and confluence-users groups to Jira prior to synchronising
