Can't find mysql-connector-java-8.0.xx-bin.jar

Jonas Weiß August 26, 2020

Hi,

Where do I get the -bin.jar version of the mysql connector? When downloading the platform independent version at mysql.com I only get the mysql-connector-java-8.0.20.jar - is this the right version?

Thanks and best regards
Jonas

Hi Jonas,

That file is correct. The latest versions of the MySQL driver no longer seem to have -bin appended after the version number. What's important is that the driver is in .jar format, as Confluence will attempt to load any .jar java libraries in the lib folder during startup.

I will note that our documentation says we've tested against driver version 8.0.18 rather than 8.0.20 - if you don't have a strong reason for going with 8.0.20, then it may be safer to stick with the version the documentation says is tested against. You can retrieve that version from the MySQL archives page .

Cheers,
Daniel
