Hello,
My company would like to migrate its documentation to Confluence. To achieve this, we need to manage access to the spaces.
I looked online and it seems the best way to do this is by using guests, as we already have a standard license with 20 users. To clarify, my company also uses Jira Service Desk, meaning we already have clients who have access as customers on the service desk (without a paid license).
The issue is that every time I try to add a guest, the "user" role is automatically added, and a warning icon appears. I tried to unselect the user role but i also lost the guest. Obviously, i've already tried to select a default space but nothing work.
I tried the same process on another test Confluence site, and it worked, so the problem likely comes from a specific setting or an unmet condition for enabling guests.
Thank you in advance for your responses. Have a great day!
Hi @Yann (Jean) and welcome to the Community.
Well, any guest who's also a user is a user, not a guest.
Users on Confluence and Jira are counted separately for each app, so your pool of Jira and Confluence users may be zero, 20 or anything in between.
Do you have a proper guest user group enabled?
Frankly, I would not hesitate to contact Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/)
Tip, after filling in basic details, you'll see the option to open chat support. It's a real person there :)
@Kristian Klima
Thank you for your answer, the problem I encountered is indeed related to the guest group. My guest group had a user role in confluence so each time I created a guest it was put in this group and inherited the role.
