Hello JohnnyB -
This is high on our list to make happen, given the upcoming release of Plugins 3.
Aiming for a first cut of OnDemand with Box at AtlasCamp Sept 2012, when dev relations will officially release Plugins 3.
We have already done a remote app with OnDemand and DropBox (see this Atlassian Summit presentation or this old blog!), and have been working with our Box on-premise integrations for almost a year now.
That said, since similar use case, we do not foresee any major issues for this integration on our development side. ETA Oct/Nov 2012.
Do you want to be our first Atlassian OnDemand with Box customer?
Otherwise, happy to help you port you to 24x7 hosted managed Atlassian services, where you can deploy either of our existing Box connectors (and any other plugin/integration too).
Since it requires a third party plugin, I believe that you can't integrate BOX with an AOD (Atlassian Ondemand) JIRA instance.

2. Restricted functions in an Atlassian Ondemand environment > https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand
However, it seems to be easy in a standalone version.
