Hello everyone! I run the Partnerships team for a SaaS company and was hoping to use Confluence to collaborate with an external organization. That company is not an Atlassian customer. Is it possible for them to view and/or edit an individual Confluence Space? In doing so, I also want to make sure we are not giving them access to the rest of our Confluence database. Thanks for your help!
Hey there,
Yes, you can collaborate with an external organization by enabling public access in Confluence-
https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/set-up-public-access/
Once enabled, you can expose specific spaces to External users. The actions that can be performed by said external users can then be controlled using Space permissions.
I hope that helps!
Cheers!
Dash.
Thanks for helping out here Dash!
Should I still be concerned that the space might be accessible to anyone who can find it? The information shared on the Space would need to remain confidential to the two organizations. Is there a way to limit "anonymous access" only to specific email addresses, for example?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Hi Landon,
Yes, in this case, the space will be accessible to anyone who can find it. Unfortunately, this is the limitation of the anonymous access approach in Confluence.
Another workaround that I can think of is to create special users for each of these organizations and then share the credentials with them.
The above workaround has its own set of limitations, but at least it enables you to restrict access to the organizations.
Regards,
Dash.

Got it- thanks for your help! That's a frustrating limitation, but we'll figure it out. Thanks again, Dash!

Hi, I have the same issue. Making it public is absolutely not a solution, it needs to be shared with only designated users.
