Can I have a single page and video play but stream multiple videos?

Eoin Curran

Hi there,

I am hoping to be able to create a video library in confluence and rather than having a seperate page hosting each video, I am seeking solutions to the most effective way to manage this. All solutions welcome.

The library will be composed of 100s of videos and creating a singe page for each video does not seem to be the efficient method. Instead, I would like to have a media player than can update the video being played based on a link being clicked.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions.

Hi @Eoin Curran, are you intending to upload all the videos on your Confluence server?

I don't think that will work, as I'm not aware of a way for Confluence to play different videos based on clicking certain links. That sounds like it would involve some fancy JavaScript programming, which Confluence doesn't really allow.

I would suggest a service like YouTube or Vimeo, which would give you the ability to embed a playlist of videos?

I believe both of those should work with Confluence's Iframe macro.

Hi Daryl,

Thanks for your response on this. I thought this might be the case. The closest I was able to get was to use Microsoft Stream. You can create different channels and embed each channel using an iFrame. This allows multiple videos to be displayed on the page but ensures that only one player is used. Currently I am trying the Vimeo and Youtube options.

Thanks again for your help!

Oh man, totally forgot about Microsoft Stream. We in fact used this at my work with the exact feature you're talking about - Channels! Glad you found that on your own.

Hallo Eoin,

Für unsere Trainingslandschaft verwende ich eine andere Webanwendung, SEAFILE,um
die Videos zu speichern.

Seafile - Open Source File Sync and Share Software
