In Confluence Automation, there exists a template titled "Archive inactive pages when scheduled." Within the "Branch rule / for each inactive page" section, it performs actions and conditions on pages deemed inactive. Could you clarify what is meant by "inactive"? Does it refer to pages that are not edited or not viewed?

@Stephanie Ong In the page on Managing your Content Tree (https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/manage-your-content-tree/), it says:
“Inactive” is content that hasn’t been viewed, updated, or commented on.
For the procedure being described, you also set a timeframe.
I didn't watch the video related to the Automation Template you mention, but it might indicate that inactive means the same thing there.

If you are interested in alternatives, the Better Content Archiving app also provides status tracking and automation capabilities.
With this app, you can fully customize statuses and even invent your own ones! You can create an "Inactive" status with any of these conditions:
...and millions of other custom conditions written in CQL!
For example, here is a space that uses a status scheme which includes a status "Expired". This status only tests for the last update of the page, for the sake of simplicity:

You can identify inactive and outdated pages using Confluence automation. However, the options are limited in terms of professional content lifecycle management.
For instance, you may want to have dedicated views for pages to review or archive based on the content status. And for sure, you want to have analytics and reports on your review process and overall content quality.
For this reason, we developed the Confluence plugin Breeze.
It features:
Altogether, it is far beyond the scope of Confluence automation and automatically identifies outdated pages and implements review and archiving workflows for keeping your pages up-to-date.
👉 Give it a try, or feel free to schedule an appointment with me for a personal demo.
