I need help with an automation problem in confluence but I'm not sure if this is even possible. I want to create a rule/automation where the following things happen:
1. if a page gets published it automatically gets the status "not verified"
2. The status of the page can then be changed to "reviewed" but only by someone else. The owner of the page is not able to change the status from "not verified" to "reviewed"
3. When the page has the status "reviewed" it can then be changed to the status "verified" but only by the owner of the page.
Is this possible? Can I do this with one rule or do I need multiple rules? What trigger, conditions and branches do I need?
Hi @Alexa Wöllmer and Welcome to the Community.
It might work - providing you define your users/user group precisely, simplify your workflow, and restrictions. I'm not sure you can do wild cards - owner only, someone else only, though.
What I'd advise (purely from the content/workflow/lifecycle management point of view), is revision of your status and workflow.
I'd go with tried&tested Draft, Review, (Done), Verified, and clearly define what exactly happens under what circumstances and who can do what (via automating restrictions).
And I'd probably go with a set of individual automation rules that start with 'if page status is..."
Also, don't forget about automating what happens to a Verified page when edited.
What you're effectively trying to achieve is what several apps are doing (outside of Confluence statuses) - two apps by Appfire Comala and Workflows for Confluence by Appfox. There, you can define the entire workflow, precisely and exactly.
