Automated Jira ticket for Expired Confluence pages

Diandra Victor January 31, 2024

I am trying to create automated Jira tickets when a page has not been updated in a specific time period. Is this possible in Jira and Confluence Data Center?

Curious as to how companies keep their documentation up to date.

You don't actually need Jira if your focus is on keeping the Confluence content up-to-date.

We have been developing an app exactly for this use case. It tracks the last views and updates on pages, even supports specific expiration date per page (or per page tree), and when a page becomes stale, it automatically emails the persons responsible with their personalized list of outdated pages.

They can then confirm that it is still up-to-date without making changes, they can actually update it, or they can archive it if it is not required anymore.

Overall, a lot of features that enable automatic content lifecycle management.

(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users!)

Thanks. The plugin looks great however, instead of sending an email notification, it would be better if the plugin could provide an option to open a Jira ticket. Many teams use Jira, and not email as work intake. Furthermore, by assigning a Jira ticket to someone, there's a better chance that the work will get completed.

Hi @Diandra Victor ,

It probably possible with scripts. Its down to people in my experience.

Usually what works is when having space admins take ownership of their space. They have the context and awareness of how often a space needs to be updated.
