We have been working on Gliffys and realised that they do not resize automatically to the screen size of the user when added to a Confluence page. Hence, sometimes some Gliffys are very small and others are so large that they get cut-off from the page without even having a scroll-bar to view them completely. This also obviously varies with the screen size of the user, some use laptops, others use desktop monitors hence we cannot pre-determine the correct size.
One thing I noticed was that pictures added to a page in their "Original" size will re-scale based on the screen size, hence they are always completely visible (never too small or too large to get cut-off) and was wondering if there is a way to do the same for Gliffys which would automatically fit the entire Gliffy across the width of the user's screen?
Hi Davin!
I think I see what you're asking and I'm passing your feedback along to our Product team.
It looks like you're using Gliffy on Server because of the tags you used — I'm using Cloud every day, so I'm not certain if this will help, but it may be a good workaround for some of your diagrams in the meantime.
When you embed a Gliffy diagram on the Confluence page and then go to edit the entire page in Confluence page view, there are size options alongside "original." These pop up when you click on the diagram macro.
Hope this helps!
Samie
Hi @Samie Kaufman - Your Gal at Gliffy
Thank you for reaching out and taking the feedback.
I did try the "Original" option for Gliffy's but as I mentioned in my post, it does work perfectly for Pictures but not for Gliffy's and I don't know why. Could there be something that I am missing out on? Would be helpful if you can confirm with the Product team that the "Original" option does work for Server instances too.
Thank you.

I don't think you're missing anything — I think this is just a great feature request! Aside from the options I shared above, I don't think there is another way to resize your diagram. But, being able to have the Gliffy macro dynamically scale as though it's an image on the page is a great idea.
I appreciate you elaborating and looking into this!

This not being a feature is pretty frustrating considering it cripples a page if you have a large diagram and doesn't allow you to resize based upon the window size.

Hey @Logan ! Totally hear you, and I'd love more context on what you're looking for/your current experience so that I can make sure this is well-documented for the team. Would you be up for a quick call?
My email is skaufman@perforce.com :) Let's get something set up!

Well its been 2 years since this was posted and this still is an issue for us (actually its worse in some situations than before). For some reason the Horizontal Scroll bar doesn't work effectively anymore.

Understood @Avin Deb !
Just a little context for you, we've been making some changes over here on the Gliffy side of things and have shifted some resources back to our on-prem products after focusing heavily on Cloud for some time. We just completed a major release for DC at the end of August.
I'm totally open to a conversation — would love to refresh some of these older requests to get them back on the team's radar! My email is above!

Hi @davin
Usually we do get a horizontal scroll bar, if the gliffy diagram is very wide.
But as a workaround, for wide the gliffy diagrams , you can export them in JPG format and import it as a picture in your page, that way you will have an option to resize them as required.

Well it defeats the purpose of having Gliffys then if we have to upload JPGs at the end. The whole point of having GLiffys embedded in the page is to be able to quickly update them as required rather than saving and uploading them again everytime.
Also, are you sure a horizontal scroll bar appears everytime or is it because you place it inside of a table cell or something?

That's true, i think it would be better if you contact the vendor - Gliffy directly and see if they can help.
Please refer screenshot below of a wide test diagram that i created, my page does show a horizontal scroll bar to view entire diagram.

On further analysis I realised that you are correct. There is a Scroll bar added for Gliffy's that extend out of your page but then the catch is that, the Scroll Bar only appears at the bottom of a Section. So if a have a long section with a lot of content and a Gliffy in the moddle of it, the scroll bar will only appear at the end of the section after all the content and not right below the Gliffy. Which is an issue for us as we use Panels and Sections to structure our Data accordingly.

You are right @davin it won't help in your case. As suggested earlier, please raise a ticket with Gliffy support so that they can advise you better on how to tackle this.
