I'm having trouble. I'm trying to use Aura design macros (specifically the Aura Cards where you can customize buttons with icons, colorations, etc) for some of my Confluence pages, however when published to Scroll Viewport, they do not show up at all.
I've checked permissions and those seem to be in order. I've also checked for any tags on the pages in question to see if they are marked as "restricted" and they aren't.
Is this a known issue or are the two API's not compatible?
Hi @Justin Driggers,
I just tried this out myself, and you're right: it's not working. Viewport essentially uses Confluence's export mechanism to get the content of pages. The issue is that the export format of Aura macros seems to be implemented in such a way, that they expect to be in a Confluence environment.
In order for Aura macros to display in Viewport, the developers of the Aura macros need to adjust their export format so that Aura macros also can be displayed in non-Confluence environments.
If this is important to you, you could consider raising this as a feature request with them via their support system.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Sven
Hi Sven,
We have been using Aura with Scroll Viewport with the Confluence server version and it has been working fine. Now we're in the process of migrating to the Confluence Cloud and it appears that Aura widgets are not working. I did submit a ticket with them and with your support today so am hopeful but.... do you know any more about this situation?

Hi @Mark Colegrove,
Sorry, I only saw your response now because emails from the Atlassian Community have been ending up in my spam folder for some time.
Unfortunately, as mentioned in my original answer, if the developers of the Aura macros have no interest making their macros render in non-Confluence environments, there is nothing that can be done on the Viewport side.
We also have this situation with other apps, for example diagramming apps. E.g. Lucidchart and draw.io can be displayed in non-Confluence environments just fine, but we aware of other apps in the same category that do not prioritize this highly enough or don't have the resources to do the work to support this.
I suppose the only thing you can do is keep nagging them about it and hope that they will implement it.
Cheers,
Sven

Hello,
I am migrating Server content to Confluence Cloud (with Scroll Viewport) and also can't use Aura cards. I reached out to the Aura Support team and here's their answer:
"In Confluence Cloud, Aura is not compatible with Scroll Viewport. As an alternative, we are compatible with the following apps:
There’s no plan to integrate Aura with Scroll Viewport in the future, as this would require us to completely rebuild our infrastructure in a way that’s not compatible with Atlassian’s upcoming development platform (Forge). As all apps will have to move to this new platform in the future, making these apps compatible would only result in a temporary solution."
If anyone knows of a replacement for Aura that can be used with Scroll Viewport in Confluence Cloud, please let me know!
Regards,
Adriane
