I'm currently going through our Confluence space and archiving old content. This includes some parent pages which were used as "archive folders" before we began using the native archiving function. I would like to archive these pages with all their nested items.
However, I'm concerned that there might be nested pages in there that I don't have access to due to restrictions on the child page level.
What would happen to those restricted child pages when I archive the parent page? Would they remain visible in the site tree to those with access permissions, or would they also be archived? Or would I receive some sort of warning when I try to check "Include nested items" during the archiving process?
A lot would depend on your permissions/restrictions setup.
The easiest way is to create a test space in your Confluence site, create a couple of pages that mimic your production space, and observe what happens when you begin archiving them. Then, tweak the parameters and what happens if you change this or that permission/restriction.
This will not only answer your question exactly but you'll be able to establish best practices for archiving processes.
Hi Mirjam,
All child pages will be archived too. A space admin can check if there is restricted content:

Kind regards,
