I just install confluence 4.2.2 and most of the buttons are not working;

  • Add Page
  • Add Blog
  • Browse
  • User

When I hover the mouse the link is http://localhost:8090/dashboard.action# .

But when I hover over Add Users, that it is working I see a http://localhost:8090/admin/users/createuser.action?from=db-button

Any ideas?

Hi Juan,

That is weird, indeed if you hover on all of those mentioned button, Confluence should show the mentioned link. However when you click it, it should give you a drop down option to continue the process.

Could you please elaborate on more detail on what you meant by the button not working. Is it redirect you to the wrong page after you clicked it.

If Confluence does not provide you the necessary drop down option when you click those links you might want to try the following steps

  1. Shutdown Confluence instance
  2. Remove the following directories (backup if necessary)
    • <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins
    • <confluence-home>/plugin-cache
    • <confluence-home>/plugins-osgi-cache
    • <confluence-home>/plugins-temp
    • <confluence-home>/bundled-plugins_language
  3. Restart Confluence

If the problem still persist, pelase double check your environment for example JDK and see if its supported.

Hope it helps.

Hi Septa,

It works! I follow the instructions and now works like a dream. About the issue, there was no error message or anything. I click on the butons and it would take me back to the dashboard. I try re-starting the server but it didn't work.

Let me know if you want me to send you any log files.

Thanks for the quick response.

Juan

Hi Juan,

Glad to hear that, and not a problem it is my pleasure to help :).

Anyway, it seems that the cause of your issue is due to corrupted plugin cache during the start-up process.

Cheers,
Septa Cahyadiputra
