I have given admin priviledges to a user skell00 in confluence however they are unable to edit blog posts. Why is this? They have the highest level of access already. they are in the 'administers' group and also the 'confluence-users' group. I cannot give them any more priviledges as they have the same as me.

Go and check the permissions for the space. Just because they are in an admin group does not mean they get rights to do anything other than administrate the system (this may seem counter-intuitive, but "admin gets all rights automatically" is actually a really stupid model and is NOT implemented in Atlassian stuff)
