Hello
I would like hear about if it is possible to add a link to an excel file outside the JIRA/Confluence.
The fil are located into a shared folder used by user with and without Confluence access and are not allowed to be relocated.
All attempts has failed and only the option of moving an Excel filen into Confluence seems to be working.
Could the issue be a setting to our local solution or is it just a fact that adding an Excel link is not possible?

Hi Lars,
This doesn't sound like a problem with Confluence because Confluence will hold a link to any resource you would like. Clicking a link in Confluence will behave the same as clicking a link in an email or pasting a link into a browser. I would paste the link to the Excel file into your browser to see if your browser tries to download the file. If the browser does not download the file, then you have to look to the file server and sharing configuration. Cheers!
Hi Joshua
Thanks for the answer I wil ´l contact the file owner to have them to change the setting for the file.

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
This depends on the file share, not Confluence.
A Confluence page can link to any valid url, including file shares, but there's a couple of things that often go wrong:
So, the short answer is "you'll need your file share system to provide a valid url with a standard protocol your browsers can handle"

Hi Nic
I will try to test your suggestions and contact the file owner to change the setting to the file.
