Access request unsucessful

Matthieu Pfeiffer February 14, 2024

Hello,

We struggle to recover access to one page:

- There is no restriction on the page in "Space settings -> Manage content -> Restrictions"

- The page is visible in the hierarchy in "Space settings -> Manage content -> Reorder" (but it cannot expand its children)

- The page is not visible in the hierarchy in the "Navigation" (left side of the screen)

- On the page, the button "Request access" triggers the following error message:

"Access request unsucessful

We ran into a problem submitting your access request. Try again or contact your admin."

Our organization administrator did not receive any access request, neither has the ability to grant permissions on the page...

Please advise about the way to proceed to recover proper access to this page.

Best regards

Matthieu

Hi @Matthieu Pfeiffer

Reach out to your Confluence or Site admin and have them review the permissions on the space.

You Org admin, can grant him/her self access to the product as Confluence Admin and review the space permissions

Reach out directly to them, not via the options in Confluence, it can be that the feature is configured in the backed to have admins receive email.

They should be able to grant you with the required permissions.

Hi @Marc Koppelaar - Devoteam,

Thanks for your answer!

Actually, I do have "Space admin rights" (as well as all other view/add rights).

I am in direct contact with IT who have Organization admin rights, and they did not have other menu/options to remove Restrictions within the Space settings.

"it can be that the feature is configured in the backed to have admins receive email."

-> We (with the org admin) have not found out where this is configured.

Any guidance about the precise location of this setting would be much welcome!

Hi @Matthieu Pfeiffer

Are there page restrictions on a certain page?

If so you, if you know a user who has access to the space, let a site or org admin find the user and have them impersonate themselves as that user and access the page and remove all restrictions.

Hi @Marc Koppelaar - Devoteam,

There is no restrictions on this page (neither on parent pages).

We do not know who has access rights to the page, as there are no restrictions visible in the space setting, and that we cannot view the "Page information". -> Is there any other way to get this information in Confluence administration (standard plan)?

We had seen this post (and few others without finding the answer). We have actually done what is described by David Catriel, but in our case this page is not really available (visible in reorder, without restrictions, but not appearing in navigation).

Needless to say that going to premium plan to be able to access our own data is not a serious answer. I have created an Atlassian support ticket.

Hi @Matthieu Pfeiffer

Then it's good you raised an issue with Atlassian Support, they can check you instance backend.

I hope they find the issue.
