We are exploring the possibility of utilizing an AI chatbot to assist our customers by answering questions about our products. Our product documentation is stored in Confluence, and we are evaluating the capabilities of Atlassian Intelligence as part of our 30-day trial subscription.

So Atlassian intelligence is like combining snowflake and tableau into one product, it is not a chatbot
That is not to say Atlassian doesn't have a chatbot, however it's chatbot is in Jira. For confluence Atlassian does have AI: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Feature-spotlight-Atlassian-AI-in-Confluence/ba-p/2693836
In addition the way, if you go the cloud route, is search itself has AI built into it, so as users type or find articles it adapts to them based off of their previous searches.
However based on what you are looking for it seems like you are looking for a service desk product, so if you were to get atlassian service management and integrate it with confluence, the service management does have an AI chat bot in which customers can talk with and it will search through Confluence for the answers
