google docs migration from google drive to confluence

Vanisree Valaboju February 3, 2021

We have this use case to migrate some google drive folders and google docs into confluence.

Our client organization is ending the google drive and moving with confluence.

Please share any inputs you have or had dealt with this use case.

The of of folders can be around 20 to 30 and each will have sub folders and sub folder internal have files and those are almost ~500 files. I am not sure about the size at this point.

@Vanisree Valaboju

But are you the customer or are you a supplier looking for a solution?

Either way, the first piece of free advice I give you is to think "Confluence style" not "google docs style".

A migration is always a good opportunity to think about how to improve an information gathering system, and take advantage of the features of the new one you want to use.

For Google, the goal is to track everything you write (read the user agreement carefully and you'll see that I'm right). It's not to make the user's job easier, that comes later, much later and only as a "consequence" of the information collection.

Google was born to "track" information.

Confluence is born to "offer" information and add value.

I hope I've given you a starting point to start working.
