Unable to Log into Confluence after Update

Michael Collins September 25, 2017

Hello,

I seem to be getting this error message when trying to log into confluence

"Sorry, an error occurred trying to log you in. Please try again."

Its happening after Installing Confluence onto a RHEL 7 system from a RHEL5. We loaded all the application data and the MySQL Database but can't seem to figure out why non of the logins are working.

That suggests a failure in the authentication system (user directory).  What does the application log file say the problem is?  <confluence home>/logs/atlassian-confluence.log

Right, so you've got Crowd as a user directory, and it can't connect to it.

You'll need to go to Crowd and add your new Confluence to it so it allows authentication.

Hello,

I am not sure if the error I just get now has to do with an upgrade, but the issue is that I practically cannot draft or edit any document anymore.

I get the following error:

The following error(s) occurred:

  • You do not have permission to access /admin/users/browseusers.action. To access this page, please log in as a user with sufficient permissions.

Does this has to do with the release or is it a different kind of error?

That doesn't sound too right - could you check the permissions on the files in your Confluence install?  Also, check that you have the global permission "browse users"
