How to UNINTUITIVELY sort page by column

I'm a newbie to Confluence and wanted to share a solution that is so NOT intuitive on how to sort a column in a page.

  1. Click 'Edit' on the page
  2. Click the table inside the Table Properties
  3. Click 'Edit'
  4. At the end of the JQL (top box above the search tool), add 'ORDER BY columnname DESC/ASC
  5. Click the Search tool (magnifying glass)
  6. Click 'Insert' at bottom right corner
  7. Click 'Save' and the page will be sorted

The most important step here? #5 because this somehow allows it to sort.  If you don't do this step, it does not work.

Not sure if anyone had this problem, but this is how it worked for me, so wanted to share this ridiculous method to sort by columns.

Hi @smak ,

You may try addons from the Atlassian Marketplace that provide sorting in tables (and Page Properties Report macros as well).

For example, our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app and its Table Filter macro allow you to sort your columns intuitively besides other functions such as filtering, calculations, hiding columns, etc.

Will do.  Thank you!
