Turn Confluence pages into trackable work in Jira with the help of AI

A few months ago we announced the beta of a new and improved way to create Jira tasks in Confluence with the help of AI. Today, this functionality is generally available (GA), along with an exciting new capability.

Read on to learn how to take Confluence beyond your standard knowledge management tool by directly connecting it to the work you’re tracking in Jira.

Create a single work item without the distraction (now GA)

Ever find yourself reading (or creating) a project plan in Confluence only to realize there’s an item you’ll need to create a Jira issue for? AI Work Creation can handle it for you! No, it doesn’t create work - it saves you from having to swap over to Jira to create the work yourself.

Our modernized, in-context experience lets you identify and create work items in Jira directly from a Confluence page without juggling multiple browser tabs, copying and pasting text, or struggling to keep your page (and details) in view.

How to use it: Simply highlight the text you want to create a issue in Jira for, click + Jira issue and AI will automatically generate the summary and description.

Scan and create an entire page of work items at once (new!)

AI work creation also lets you generate multiple work items in Jira from a Confluence product requirements document (PRD) or project plan, without needing to manually comb through a page for everything that needs tickets (potentially missing some).

Once you prompt AI, it scans the entire page to identify action items and then generates a list of work items in Jira with pre-filled summaries and descriptions. You can then create, edit, or delete individual issue, or bulk create the entire list of work items at once. Say goodbye to writing out summaries and descriptions one-by-one!

How to use it: The feature can be found in the floating AI menu. Click the AI :ai: button and select Create Jira issues. You can create up to 10 Jira issues at once.

Note: In order to create work items in Jira with Atlassian Intelligence, Cloud users will need to have Confluence Premium or Enterprise, and Atlassian Intelligence enabled within Confluence. Organization admins can enable Atlassian Intelligence from Settings > Atlassian Intelligence in Atlassian Administration.

I love this! It has been a past pain point having duplicative task-tracking efforts between Jira and Confluence.  It's also really helpful to be able to have those tasks created from Confluence --> Jira since we typically like to use Confluence for planning first, prior to getting things setup in Jira.

Yeah I moved our marketing team from Trello to Jira and the integration of confluence to Jira is great.  This makes things better - really like this.  We use it so overall project and its scope is in confluence and visible to the business and then the team actions and deliverables are all managed in Jira.

I can see Jira issue menu in one space but not in the other. Is this in the space settings somewhere?

I can't see the 'floating AI button' in reliably or consistently in my Confluence sites... is this consistently rolled out now/what triggers it being visible?

I tried using the AI Work Creation feature in Confluence, but I don’t see the option to 'Create Jira issues' in the floating AI menu. Is this feature fully rolled out to all users, or are there specific requirements to enable it?
