Preview Gitlab files on Confluence pages and Jira tickets

Have you tried out Smart Links yet? Smart Links offer you different ways to display a link above and beyond a traditional hyperlink or URL. Try Smart Links for your favorite work tools, like Dropbox, Asana, Google Drive, and more. They are available on both Confluence and Jira.

Preview your Gitlab files directly on pages with Smart Links

To add a Gitlab Smart Link, simply paste the URL link on a Confluence page or type “/link” to insert. Once pasted, you can view the file as a small “inline” link which quickly lets you know the file’s title and format – in this case a Gitlab file.

You can change toggle your view to a more impactful “card” preview where you can see more information about that file like the status, language, and more.

View your latest repository side-by-side to your technical documentation, all on one page!

More Smart Links are coming so stay tuned!

Thanks

Hey @Jonno Katahanas

does this feature need additional configuration? We use GitLab.com, but we only see "SSO login" as a preview for GitLab links.

Hello all,

If you are looking for a way to show the complete file from GitLab private or public repos within Confluence as an additional feature for those interested to inline documentation, you may find Include GitLab for Confluence Cloud useful.

You can simply copy the URL of the GitLab file and paste it into the Confluence page.

In the following example we use this GitLab URL of a .md file: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/blob/master/INSTALL.md

Then paste the URL in the Confluence file as shown in the video and the macro will automatically be applied to embed the file.

Include gitlab - copy file url (background) (2).gif

I hope this is helpful.

Best regards,
Sue from Mibex Software

This feature doesn't seem to work. Has it been disabled?
