Introducing The New Confluence Templates Experience!

Hello, I am David Akinyemi, a Product Manager here at Confluence.

We are thrilled to share the new set of Template features to not only accelerate and simplify the content creation process, but more importantly elevate your work experience on Confluence. 🎉

We have introduced new features to make template recommendations more dynamic and personalized for each person. The updated Template Gallery allows you to easily search for templates by author, description, and themes. Templates are now embedded into the page editor with suggested options appearing as you type a title. Sharing and editing of templates is also made easier directly from the gallery. Visit the Template Gallery (in the navigation bar next to the 'Create' button) and Drawer (in the page editor) to give it a try!

Template Suggestion

We have added Templates to the page editor with Suggested templates as you start typing a title.

When you enter the editor, right beneath the title area, you'll find our "popular templates" waiting for you. These tried-and-tested options are the perfect way to kickstart your page ideas with ease. But that's not all - as you start typing your title, the popular templates will gracefully transition into "suggested templates," tailored to match your project's needs.

Dynamic Template Recommendations

We have updated the Template Gallery and Drawer with New Template categories. The template recommendations in the gallery and drawer have been reordered based on custom offerings for each teammate. Super helpful if you're new to creating!

Template Search Flexibility

The Template Gallery and Drawer now allow for searching by template data such as author, description and themes. Previously only page titles and descriptions were searchable. This new capability makes it easier to find the right template even when you're not sure what you're looking for!

Template Sharing and Editing

You can now easily share and edit templates directly from the Template Gallery, eliminating the need to navigate deep into admin settings or use a link in the browser. By hovering over a template card and clicking on "more actions," you can access template editing. Access sharing options from the share icon next to the “more actions” button. This update simplifies the process for users and makes it more intuitive!

These are such valuable improvement @David Akinyemi! Consistent and well structured pages are so important for scaling Confluence, and putting templates front and center in the page creation process is such a great improvement.

And, of course, that template gallery now! (an edit button right there?! 🥲)

We just had to make a shareable video about the great news: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-tzHyteWepw

Great to see Templates get some love (one of the best things within Confluence) and on that topic I want to mention that when you enable editing permissions to global templates (so that not only admins can update the global templates) then the templates feature will really become a great feature ;) (for those that fully utilize spaces in Confluence but can't really use the global templates unless going with everything through the Confluence admins) https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-7909
